Klaralund Sweater

i came across this sweater, and thought that it might be a pretty cute and somewhat easy sweater to make as my first sweater project...

this is the infamous "El Gato Negro" in Madrid:

their store front windows. you are expected figure out what the heck you're going to "need" before you go in.

"rebajas" means "sale". january and july are sale times in spain, hence why i will NEVER visit in any other months. just kidding....i'm not THAT shallow. just kidding, i actually am *wink*

Yesterday's visit to the LYS

and by "LYS" i mean....
LOCAL: 2 blocks away--- ouch!
YARN: largest selection in the greater san francisco area!
STORE: recipiant of nearly all my monthly earnings.

i picked up the CLASSIC ELITE PREMIER for RUFFLES from "scarf style" in this cool light grey-ish-i'm-trying-to-tone-down-my-color-schemes-so-my-fiance'-will-still-marry-me tone.

also....my 3rd skein of NORO in kueryon(sp?). not for any real responsible reason....merely because it was their last one and i had a vision of trying to finish somethig and not having one last skein available to buy. i see now why this fear is ridiculous....oooh well. Perhaps these 3 skeins will mamgically turn into the FRENCH MARKET BAG???

and...IRONSTONES YARN "fun" in a cream. this puffy and thin, puffy and thin, puffy and thin yarn reminiscent of a beginner-spinners rhythm is being used for my always-in-progress MATRIMONIAL BLANKET. in boring and heavy and beautiful garter stitch.

knit-ernet surfing the blogosphere

woke up at 6:30am this morning (by the way it's sunday and i am NOT a morning person...). with that being said, its clear that my insomniac is due completely to my jet-lag and not some obscure new sleeping schedule.
i spent an embarrassing 3 or 4 hours of knit-ernet* blog surfing and updated my be-dazzled right hand collum blog-buttons.

I still havent figured out how to upload pic's, so if any of you knitsters come across this post and are willing to share--- please do!! blogger.com wont do it, and i can't find a place that will host my pictures AND create an htlm stream thats less them 63 characters long (or whatever obscure/random number blogger.com thinks is appropriate).

*okay, just for the record, i made that word up right now, amazing what going to bed at 7pm will do for your webster's dictionary moments!! so proud*wink*.

El Gato Negro

so i'm back from spain and i had the pleasure of visiting the infamous "el gato negro" in madrid. anyone who knits in spain knows of el gato negro. the business was in the typical spanish "look dont touch" model of retail. which was a major rain on my "fondle everything i can get my hands on" parade of doing things at yarn shops. my FI took lots of pictures....which will all be posted once I can figure out how the heck do it!

Quizilla, you gotta love this one.

Knitting Goddess
You appear to be a Knitting Goddess. You are constantly giving and are unconcerned with
reward, you simply want others to love knitting
as much as you do. If someone wants to knit
miles of novelty yarns, you are there for them.
If someone wants to learn short row shaping,
you can help. There are no taboos in knitting,
only opportunities to grow. Everyone should
have friend like you around if they want to
learn to knit, and there's a good chance that
your passion has rubbed off on a few others.http://marniemaclean.com/

how exciting...I've officially joined my first ring (beginner babe)...god i love this blogger stuff *wink*.

well, today i'm packing to go on a trip to spain to visit the g-parents with my FI and dad. pretty excited/nervous. nervous?? not nervous to see the g-parents, or even fly. nervous because i dont want to be caught without good yarn or the right pattern. so i'm deligently digging through my YS to make sure that I grab the right stuff. *sigh* if only i spent this much time and energy into packing my clothes....i might not be as cold as i suspect i will.

my mom said that there is a whole row (street) of yarn vendors off of the Plaza Major in Madrid....could this be true???? Could the be the *TRUE* knitters nirvana??? yarn stores galore coupled with my g-mothers expert knitting skills....this is going to be a VERY VERY productive trip!!!

tonight is my first class of 2nd semester knitting at the adult school...cant wait!!
