Next project...

i ordered lots and lots of beautiful yarn from KnitPicks.com.
i ordered yarn with schmate in mind because i'm going to make her a scarf. i've thought very carefully about what to make her and i've dwindled it down to two from which i would like to choose one.

but i need help.

This one I chose for a couple of different reasons:

1. The most obvious one, is that this picture of the model looks like Katy so i know that it would look gorgeous on her.
2. the green is something she would totally dig.
3. i wanted to make it out of this sweater that i took apart to recycle the yarn. sounds weird, but it's a sweater that she and i used to share when we lived together throughout college, and now that we're apart, i thought that it would be a good way to share the sweater and the memories of our crazy days together.

if she doesnt like that idea, i could make it out of the gorgeous yarn that i ordered, which is described as the color of a "red barn" and is made up of 55% Superfine Alpaca, 23% Silk and 22% Merino Wool. Can you say "buttery soft"?

The second idea is this scarf. The reasons why I chose this one is because:

1. its a beautiful pattern that i think she would really like, and
2. the pattern is convienently named "Midwest Moonlight" which could be a loving homage to our time together in Michigan.

I choose a soft Merino Wool spun in Peru in a color called "moss" that closely resembles the overwhelming deep green color that the trees in Michigan used to turn in the summer.

CAST YOUR VOTES PEOPLE.

This just in from Schmaty....

Schmate had a chance to break away from her important duties of "chico's fashion police", "guru-in-training" and "reality tv reporter" to bring us this important story from Mumbai.

The dabbawallahs of Mumbai and giving Charles and Camilla the very generous wedding gift of a wedding sari, head-dress and bangles.

today i decided that just because my blog is a tribute to the wonderful world of fiber arts...doesn't mean that i cant write about anything other then....well....in a word....YARN.

what else is happening in the world?

Sandra Dee, the original actress of the character "Gidget" passed away at age 63.

There was an earthquake measuring 6.4 in the village of Dahuyeh in Iran, over 420 people have died. Please contact Oxfam, Red Cross or your preferred relief organization for information on how you can help.

Prince Charles will be marrying his mistress, Camilla at Windsor Castle in April. Folks that are so inclined, are welcome to "vote" whether he should marry her or not of the BBC website. Like he really gives a rats ass what we think. He's been sneaking behind the shed with that woman for the past 80 years.

One of my favorite musical artists, Beck, is coming out with a new CD called "Guero", due to be released March 29th.

And now its time for the KNOTTIE KNITTER PHOTO OF THE DAY AWARD.
And the award goes to Lonely Planet Photographer, Richard I'Anson for his photograph of a bustling market place in Ubud, Indonesia. This photograph is property of Richard I'Anson and will be removed at his request.

The KNOTTIE KNITTER MARINE LIFE PHOTO OF THE DAY AWARD goes to Lawson Wood for his photograph of An amphiprian alcallopisos in Seychelles. Excellent work Lawson, love those colors. Don't steal Lawson's picture without asking him.

still working on ruffles for the 3rd weekend straight. it looks beautiful...but its a very very slow knit, and i'm just getting kinda bored.
unfortunately i havent been knitting as much as i've wanted to because i've been bogged down with all this wedding stuff....
this was a really really boring post....sorry....

Moody Monday

so its monday 4 more days until STITCHES WEST. i spent the weekend with my in-laws in the oc. which was really fun. on sunday during the stupid-bowl i worked up "ruffles" which really excited my MIL. she showed me her rapid-fire right hand knitting and i was totally impressed. we discussed the trials and tribulations of knitting for non-appreciative-non-knitters. and i think i might make her a clapotis.

lots of wedding planning too which is less the relaxing. about 4.5 months left and we still dont have music. my FIL and MIL sprung upon us another major wedding plan....another wedding reception on sunday after the wedding. 400 people....ouch. someone is going to need some caffine...

hi katy!!! this is my best friend, she's is supposed to pay me a little visit today (in the blogosphere that is). is'nt she cute??? i will be visiting her in chico soon and i need to say....katy, i cant come unless you can hook it up with a cool yarn store....so start looking little fool....:)

Hump Day Wednesday

and i'm feeling really weird today. getting on my friends nerves a little, but she likes it so there.

i'm thinking about a few things today...

1. my FI's birthday is this weekend, and we're going to down to orange county to celebrate. i'm looking forward to celebrating his last birthday as a single man. actually, i'm REALLY REALLY EXCITED, i love his birthday. his gift is all done and i picked it up yesterday. and all i can say is....HE IS GOING TO FREAKIN' LOVE IT!!!! and thats all i can really say about that since he tends to check in on the knottie every once in awhile.*wink*

2. nine more days until STITCHES WEST in santa clara. and i cant wait. my FI gave me a gift certificate to the market place which is so cool b/c its basically a guilt-free shopping spree. but instead of going in there with my fiber-blinders on and just pick-up, fondle and buy random balls of yarn....to add to my stash of path-less knitting....i decided that i'm going to actually "PLAN" my purchases. is this possible.....i'll start today.

YARN TO GET AT STITCHES WEST:
yarn for 2 clapotis (at least 615 yards of lorna's laces or "like")
yarn for my no-longer-my-boyfriend-now-my-husband sweater (morhouse farm)
black chenille for my mom and dad's lap blanket
yarn for my fathers vest
yarn for hour-glass sweater
whatever my sister will trick me into getting for her
yarn for "Lady Eleanor"
....more to come....
